Paige White is a well-known resource in the San Francisco fetish scene, not only as a model, but also as a canny photographer. She has a clear artist's eye for capturing the revealing moments of true bondage and suffering in a way that one cannot help but admire the beauty found within pain.

The first time I ever noticed that a woman could be beautiful when she was very obviously battered, bruised and distressed was through Madeline Stowe's character in Last of the Mohicans. I remember wondering at the time how I could find allure in a woman who was so stunning otherwise. I then realized that those bruises only enhanced her beauty for me. A revelation was born.

It seems Paige came to her own similar realization much sooner than I.

Eros Zine: I suppose modeling was the first thing you became really well-known for. How did you begin?

Paige White: I started modeling for Kodak and Maybelline back in the 80's (no, I wont tell you my age) as a print and commercial model. I spent a lot of time in New York, going back and forth from Dallas. I hated it; the people were so superficial - as if the fetish community isn't? Indeed, that doesn't really tell you how I ended up in porn.

Eros Zine: Okay, how did you make that transition?

Paige White: Let's just say, a computer, a long distance relationship, and the need to escape the south all brought me to San Francisco. Being the exhibitionist that I am (or was), I bought the domain www.enslaved.com, put up a few pictures of myself in bondage and voila! Paige White was born. I traveled the world modeling for different company's websites, etc, and I had a blast doing it.

Eros Zine: And how did you shift from actual modeling to shooting photography?

Paige White: I had a bad few years with injuries from being bent in half and was forced to stop getting tied up and beaten…yes…beaten…so… I bought a camera Nikon F100, which was lovely. I started hiring my fellow model friends and taking pictures. It took me a good year to learn how to work the damn thing (laughs); trial and error if you will. I still don't know how to use it. Thank god for digital.

Eros Zine: Can you give us a description of the types of things you enjoy shooting?

Paige White: You know, it's hard for me to describe what I shoot, because it's a myriad of things, but…wow, what is my passion? What do I like to shoot? Girls crying… tied up and preferably screaming. That always puts a smile one my face.

Eros Zine: That pretty much begs the question, "Why shoot women crying?"

Paige White: It moves me; it moves me when I see them display the pain I've always felt inside myself.

Eros Zine: That's a pretty profound statement that therapists would probably base their entire practices on, but strangely I completely understand. So, you consider yourself somewhat of a documenter of pain?

Paige White: I never considered myself a photographer until I was asked to show my work at the San Francisco Fetish Ball Gallery opening in 2003.

Eros Zine: I saw that show. I was really impressed and stunned. There were a lot of captivating pieces there.

Paige White: To my surprise, I sold many of my prints, and had some of the top fetish models in the world asking me to photograph them. It was an exciting time. People ask me who my inspiration is, and I always say Ken Marcus. I have shot with him a few times and he is meticulous and brilliant with lighting. I've learned a lot from him over the years. I've always said that when I grow up I want to be just him… well, thinner and prettier, but you know… it's a gender issue.

Eros Zine: Trust me; you're much prettier than Ken. Tell us more about Enslaved.

Paige White: Enslaved.com was a hit; I had more members than I knew what to do with (is that possible?). And I was - at the time - one of the only female producers in the bondage community. I branched out into many other websites, my other two successful sites being www.abductor.com and www.slpvideo.com. I'm getting ready to launch a new site at www.chopstickbondage.com. What a cute name, eh? There are others but these are the sites that I devote most of my time too.

Eros Zine: I do like the name. It puts me in mind of many evil things one can do with a simple pair of chopsticks, but perhaps that's the idea. How about your video work?

Paige White: I've been producing BDSM videos now for 5 years under the name Slave Labor Productions (www.slpvideo.com), and I've been fortunate enough to have 5 AVN video nominations for best BDSM video of the year. That is quite an accomplishment; I'm hoping that one of these days I might win. I'm confident that it's going to happen.

Eros Zine: The next time you're up for a nomination, let me know so I can go scream loudly from the audience when you win. Now - Slave Labor Productions? Is that because its bondage oriented?

Paige White: People ask me how I came up with the name Slave Labor. Well, it's simple - I did all the work, thus I am a slave to myself. But aren't we all?

Eros Zine: What lies ahead for you, oh multi-talented mistress?

Paige White: What do I have planned for the future? Lots of chocolate being served to me by my little slave Tchukon, on his knees. (Can't a girl dream?) Yes, it's just a matter of time, I won't stop trying, and I'm dedicated, ya know.

If you check out the range and quality of work that Paige produces, then you will agree with the "dedicated" comment. Besides being a beautiful woman, she has an exquisite eye, and her involvement with the San Francisco Fetish Ball 2005 will probably result in a few surprises for attendees.

Check out Paige's many works on all her sites, including www.paigewhite.com where she has some exquisite shots.

This is one woman to watch. She will change the face of fetish photography, I predict.
